Description
The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc. (AMEXCAN) cordially invites you to participate in our third NC Latino Disaster Recovery Alliance meeting of 2022! This meeting will take place on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 10 AM through Zoom. Zoom information is available below.
Our goal with the NC Latino Disaster Recovery Alliance is to create a sustainable group, like the NC Latino COVID-19 Task Force, that will provide and share disaster relief resources for NC Latino communities. Several natural disasters have devastated the lives and homes of countless North Carolinians in the last couple of years. In 2018, Hurricane Florence caused 42 fatalities and resulted in nearly 140,000 North Carolinians registering for disaster assistance after the storm. Similarly, in 2019, Hurricane Dorian made landfall and caused more than 190,000 North Carolinian homes to lose power. AMEXCAN wants to make sure that when the next storm comes, the Latino community is ready.
For this upcoming meeting, we are excited to have Syntia Santos Dietz, Ph.D., NCC. and Maylee Vazquez, Ph.D., NCC. They will be providing us with a presentation titled: Help the Helper centered around mental health. This presentation stems from Project Don’t Wait, https://news.ecu.edu/2020/06/08/project-dont-wait/. The link shares more details on the great project!
The Zoom Meeting ID is 822 5263 1815 and the Passcode is 034390, or you can click here to join. For more information, please contact the NC Latino Disaster Recovery Alliance at ncldra@amexcannc.org or Marlene Castillo at mcastillo@amexcannc.org. We hope that you will be able to join us and that you will share this with anyone you think may benefit.
