The Basic Automotive Program is a book theory and hands-on program that provides a great learning experience for Latino Education Center students to improve their vehicle knowledge and skills.
The course consists of a minimum of 9 hours a week divided between Tuesday and Thursday with an additional 6 hours on Saturdays once a month, from May to December; The total number of hours of the course is 272 with 130 hours of theory and 142 of practice. Classes consist of theory and information on systems such as the engine, suspension, steering, tires, and air conditioning that are taught and explained to students during part of the class time. Students work on real vehicles, observe real-world problems, and complete tasks to deepen their knowledge of systems and how to repair them.
Upon completion, students will have earned multiple certificates to demonstrate their understanding of special systems and tools to perform certain tasks.
The course available at Lenoir Community College offers a great learning opportunity and experience for people looking to become future mechanics.
They will also have the opportunity to gain a leg up in the field thanks to the certificates earned and useful knowledge accumulated through the program.
