Raleigh, NC- After two years of virtual celebrations, La Fiesta del Pueblo will return in person this 2022. The Latin American festival organized by El Pueblo and one of the largest in North Carolina, will take place on Sunday, September 18, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Fayetteville Street in beautiful downtown Raleigh.

“As someone who has worked planning La Fiesta del Pueblo for 15 years, coming back to an in-person Fiesta in downtown Raleigh is like coming home,” said Mike Figueras, El Pueblo Development Strategist. “After the last few years of the pandemic, it will be a happy occasion to be able to celebrate with our community in person once again.”

La Fiesta del Pueblo is the largest and most diverse festival of Latin American culture in the Triangle, featuring live music and dance performances, visual and folk art exhibits, educational booths, and activities for the whole family.

“The Fiesta del Pueblo excites me because I will be able to share in person with my family. It is an experience that I have not lived before and it will be nice to be part of that diversity. I think I’m going to feel a little piece of Mexico that day,” said Lía De la Paz, a resident of Dunn in Harnett County.

This will also be the first time De la Paz will participate in La Fiesta as part of El Pueblo’s Leadership and Community Action Committee. (CLAC). “It will be a good opportunity for many people to learn about the work that the organization does and what all my colleagues who are leaders of CLAC do.”

While planning for the festival is still underway, those interested in being a part of the festival’s historic return to the city center are invited to apply for a venue.

“We are so excited for this year’s Fiesta del Pueblo! It has always been about celebrating our Latin American culture and communities. We are planning to have Latin American food and craft vendors, organizations that provide services to the Latin American community, and incredible performances by Latin American artists! You don’t want to miss it,” said Iliana Santilla, executive director of El Pueblo.

El Pueblo welcomes food vendors, artisan vendors, non-profit organizations, artists of all varieties, and country-specific organizations to apply on its website at elpueblo.org/fiesta by July 29. of 2022.
