Thirty years ago, El Centro Hispano started a day like today.
Since the effects of the Cold War, 9/11, the Great Recession, and the COVID-19 pandemic, we have witnessed the events that have impacted North Carolina, the nation, and the world, as we stand tall for our communities. .
Much has changed during these thirty years at El Centro; however, our mission to strengthen community, build bridges, and advocate for equity and inclusion remains constant.

Non-profit Latino organization that works to strengthen the community, build bridges and promote equity and inclusion of Hispanics / Latinos in the North Carolina Triangle area.
Focus areas are Health and Wellness, Education and Economic Development.
Main programs:
– Education: School Preparation, K-12 Tutoring, College Preparation, English Classes, Computer Classes, Citizenship Classes, Spanish Classes, Literacy, Primary and Secondary School in Spanish for Adults, Support Classes for Parents .
– Health and Wellbeing: Health Window at the Consulate of Mexico, Mobile Health Unit, HIV Prevention, Substance and alcohol abuse prevention.
Direct Support Office: Service Connections, Translations, Interpretations, Domestic Violence, Legal Clinics, Immigration Assistance.
– Economic Development: Workers Center, Financial Education
– Community Participation and Advocacy: Youth group, support groups for the LGBTQ community. Policy analysis and community mobilization.
