Raleigh, North Carolina. Sunday, November 7, 2021, with a large influx of the North Carolina community, we held Revista Latina’s Day of the Dead Celebration in collaboration with the Consulate General of Mexico in Raleigh and the Dix Park Conservancy in Dorothea Dix Park.
Our goal is to cultivate our traditions and remember our loved ones with a cultural celebration showing the traditional Dia de Muertos Offering, Folklor, Aztec Dance, Ballet, Music, Art, Crafts, Workshops, Literature, Theater, Mexican Crafts, Gastronomy, and a spectacular Parade of Catrin @ s.
There were very emotional moments where the community connected and enjoyed our culture. The Consul General of Mexico Claudia Velasco Osorio, was present to open the event and address some emotional words to the community.
Latin Magazine Message for the Community:
“The success of any activity is only achieved when the strength and dynamism of several people who support their energies in the same direction come together.
Preserving the traditions of our peoples is a responsibility that concerns us all equally, because history is written and interpreted every moment, with what we do, say, capture with the magic behind the lens and with what we capture with print. ; it becomes a legacy, a lantern that illuminates the footprints of the road traveled.
Our responsibility as an adult generation is to leave a historical and cultural legacy to the generations that precede us, because the world takes on meaning as we understand and internalize the origin and evolution of things.
Traditions are cultural heritages that have increased their symbolisms as we advance in their knowledge, because nothing is static, everything is in constant change and movement.
That is why the community of Revista Latina NC sincerely appreciates the contributions that each of you made to enrich this great event “Celebration of the Day of the Dead.” Because to the extent that we understand that death is an inseparable companion of life, that it reaches all people equally, with different endowments, at different times and circumstances, and although it is dressed in hermetic lace, we try to unravel its mysteries with celebrations alluding to the figure invented by man. We believe that the spirit does not die, it only dwells in the spectrum of shadows and comes this day to share with the living. “By Maria del Refugio Sandoval. (Mexican writer collaborating with Revista Latina).
A special thanks to the Artists, Singers, Musical Groups, Dance Groups and all the people who participated in this celebration.
